Dotty For You (Blog Hop)

Welcome to You Can Create and the Dotty For You Blog Hop.

Thanks for joining me from {Amy McVey's} lovely site, Clearly Stamping.

Dotty For You is a promotion CTMH created just for National Scrapbooking Month.  When you place an order of $35 or more in products from the Spring/Summer 2012 Idea Book between April 17 and May 31, you may add the Dotty for You paper packet, valued at $19.95, for just $5.  This paper pack is MORE than worth it!

Close To My Hearts double sided card stock paper is PERFECT for this treat box!

This box may look complicated, but it is not. I used a sheet of 12 x12 paper for my box, but you can use any size square that you'd like.

For a 12x 12 sheet of paper score a line from top to bottom at 4 inches and at 8 inches.  Rotate your paper once to the left and repeat the score lines at 4 and 8 inches.  You will have created a tic-tac-toe grid on your paper. In order to fold your box together, you will have to score on the diagonal each of the 4 corner squares.

This is what my box looks like open ( after I embellished it) .  The mattes are 3.75 inches square.

I hole punched in each of the corners and then threaded CTMH ribbon through and tied the box closed.

These projects were also created with the Dotty For You Paper Pack (See links for previous blog posts):

Dotty or You: Butterfly

When I created this LO, I used the Juggling Act patten from Magic ( CTMH's latest idea book).  At first, I used only Sweet Leaf and Twilight to match the striped paper in the Dotty For You paper kits.  It was just not "right". It needed a "POP" of color and that is how the Sorbet accents came along.  Normally, I would not add another color unless it was in the patterned paper.  I took a risk, and am pleased with the results.

Here is a close up of the left page:

I wanted to show you this close up, because it proves a point: mistakes can still look good. I had intended to stitch the Sorbet strips down, but did not realize that the thread had come out of my needle on my machine.  Once I started , there was no going back.  I repeated the thread-less stitches on all the Sorbet paper strips, and it looks intentional.  It looks good (even if it was not what I planned).

Blank ( Dotty For you)

There are certain card styles that I seem to fall for.  I have made cards like this before.   It is amazing how different paper always freshens an old stand by.  Don't every be afraid to go back to an old favorite.  There is a reason you like it so use it!  Don't be afraid of your "style"

Thank You giftie

Since I am a  crafter I would LOVE getting a little giftie like this.  Not much really, only an 8x8 piece of paper folded but it is so cute!

I used paper from the Dotty For You collection.  To demonstrate the fold, I used plain photo copy paper...

1)Fold your 8x8 paper top to bottom and side to side so that you have 4 smaller squares:

 2)  Fold the lower right corner in toward the center.
 3) Fold lower left corner in toward the center.
 4) Using your horizontal fold, fold the large triangle to the top of your card.
5) Fold the tip of your triangle down so that it sets at the "bottom" of your card. This tip of the triangle can be folded into the pocket as well.  Secure this fold with adhesive.  Do not apply adhesive to the pocket BEHIND, as this is where you can place your tags :)
 6)  Now you have the bones of your card.  Embellish as desired.  I cut flowers with the AP cartridge and embellished a tag as wells the cover.

My Sunshine

The Dotty For You paper is such happy paper.  It makes me smile.  I wanted to start creating the moment I got it. The first artwork I created is based on sketch 25  found on Sketch Support.

This paper won't be available until April 17th... but it will be worth the wait.  I promise!

Christmas Gift...

I made this for my Mother in Law for Christmas.  I used CTMH's Sonoma paper pack.  Those colors are just so beautiful!  This weekend when we went to visit, I  noticed it was hanging right by the door as we walked in.  I hope that means she liked it.

Made one for my mom too...

Be Yourself

Inspiration comes from many places...
I saved the LO for future reference by UBER talented CTMH consultant Vicki Wizinuk

I loved the banner along the bottom... turns out she was inspired by a sketch!

Here is my Lay Out:
I used the new Victory Paper Pack from the Spring/Summer CTMH catalog.  I may LOVE almost as much as my Sister In Law :)

Victory Milk Carton

Since I have been a consultant for more than 5 years, I know my customer's taste when it comes to paper kits.  It is fun to predict who is going to want what paper kit.  So, when I saw the Victory paper kit, I KNEW my Sister In Law was going to flip!

I was right.  She was excited.  But nothing can compare to  the sheer joy of  her discovering the My Creations Milk Cartons, and her ensuing creative high!  She must of giggled the WHOLE time she worked on it.  It made me happy too!

Look what she created ( Yes, that is my brother!)

Isn't that the funniest thing you have seen...

Thanks Cat for letting me share!
